Is it just me or have the number of positive programs and articles about India increased in our media?
Every other day there is a piece on ‘hope for Pak-India friendship’, how to better our trade relations and how we are alike as a people. The general perception is that having good relations with your neighbor will help better the regional environment. Sure, that is a perspective, but has anyone reflected on how idealistic/superficial all this sounds? Especially considering there are still multiple issues between our two countries that have remained unresolved for years. The first and foremost of course – the one which every man, woman and child is aware of – is the Kashmir issue!
Our territory, our land is under occupation by India. Just this one issue is enough to end all kinds of contact with India. If you don’t think so then ask the thousands of people who suffer at the hands of the Indian army every day; ask the Kashmiris who have lost their family members and look towards Pakistan to help end their suffering. Many Kashmiris today of course just want to be independent. Why wouldn’t they? What has Pakistan done for them?!
Then there is the LOC violation issue that crops up every few months. It’s an obvious question: If India is constantly violating the LOC, why are we the ones extending our hand in friendship?
They accuse us of the Mumbai massacre; we remain quiet.
They say we harbor Dawood Ibrahim; we offer to kiss them on the cheek.
They build illegal dams to control our waters; we are sending them gifts.
Have we completely lost any semblance of self-respect as a nation, or are we just plain blind!
Based on what I have seen and read, India is least bothered in being friends with Pakistan. Rather, if it seems to entertain us, it has its own hidden agenda.
Our economy is miniscule compared to theirs and our industries less developed. What we have to offer them is not a lot, which is why the initiatives almost always stall.
For India we are just a small annoyance. It is looking towards bigger things. For example, just recently India along with the BRICS nations signed a deal to set up a $ 100 billion bank on the lines of the World Bank. Do you really think it cares how many onions it can get from us?
We on the other hand can’t get enough of them. We want to be friends at all costs!
In my opinion, a Pak-India friendship is not going to solve anything. Your defense budget is still going to swell and you are not going to get Kashmir or any other issue resolved.
Like it or not, if we as a nation take a cold, hard, mature look at the current Pak-India situation, the future is clear:
Eventually, we will have to fight it out… everything we are doing right now is achieving nothing but delaying the inevitable.

Today or tomorrow Pakistan will have to be friends not only India but with all its neighbouring countries. Pakistan might be nothing in front of India but it do have its own identity and for the sake of that identity one day every Pakistani will stand up and say No to war and Yes to Peace.
Friendship occurs only between equals. India, by cancelling any meeting with Pakistan gave this message clearly. India will never give Kashmir to Pakistan neither Pakistan will ever give Azad Kashmir to India. By sheltering the world most wanted terrorist Bin Laden, Pakistan discourages others to become friend of Pakistan! India will never be of any good use to Pakistan – only the backward Indians who are not capable enough to match with the modern developments feel solidarity with Pakistan but these people will be of no use to Pakistan even. Events since 1947 show clearly that India has its own mission to accomplish and the mission has got no link with Pakistan. So there is no need for Pakistan to work hard to become a friend of India neither try strengthening its muscle to fight with India also – India will never occupy a land full of so many problems and chaos!
Two countries became independent in 1947…one reached the Mars….and d other still doesnt reach in Kashmir
Well, talks on such topic will go over and over but never stop until find the final solution and my question is “Who will solve both countries matter “?. No ONE is ready to accept each other’s views and demand. When talk on it then both nations get starting hatred speechs and blaming either to politician or each other. Better to leave under UN and other countries instead of sit together. If War is the option then it’s foolishness and waste of life’s, money, time and trust. I respect human beings and Islam never allow extremist until other party attacks. Only both Nations can push their politicians to create peaceful atmosphere like they are pushing for strikes and long march. If both nations understand why our relationship are not smooth? Then we will find everything start with hate… According to current situation and each of us still shutting our mouth for on over so called freedom of speech. Best of luck all and pray for all…

To all my Indian friends here, the author is not at all saying that there shouldn’t be a peaceful environment between Pakistan and India. Only an ignorant idiot on either side would disagree with the fact that this region cant move forward towards economic prosperity without having good relations between Pakistan and India. But you got to understand the fact that despite countless insults from a large portion of the Indian media and political figures, our politician and media are basically singing songs about our love for India and how we cannot even survive without a love affair between our two countries. On our side, channels take the IPL as importantly as the world cup and on your side our players are BANNED from it! Your films reign over our box office and our films are banned in your cinemas. While our media shows your soaps and films, some of your channels runs war simulations with Pakistan getting destroyed in the end. When your media almost presents the conspiracy theory of “Pakistan funding terrorism” as a ‘fact’, our media barely mentions anything about RAW being involved in Baluchistan. When various politicians of yours talk about “destroying/occupying Pakistan within 6 months”, our politicians keep their mouths completely shut because of their business interests in India.
I’m not trying to portray India as an evil country, I know there are good and bad people on both sides and we MUST have brotherly relations with each other to move forward, BUT, based on “Mutual Respect”. And I think that’s what the author is trying to imply here, he is not promoting hatred towards India but only saying that if we keep heading down this path without realizing and solving our problems, it will eventually lead towards more hatred and, god forbid, another war.

Me as a proudly Indian says Kashmir is India’s “attoot ang” and pak forcefully captured our land n called them azad kashmir. Its only because of UN they are still there. About our economy not only coz of our population… We r having world largest rail network , highest no of dr engineers IT professional produced every year.and in almost every aspects its better than Pak. Japan a half timer than Pak. Is having better economy n power than India . so your viewers i wanna say population doesn’t matter. Niyat matters.

There are two faces to India. One is the corporate India that wants business and peace with Pakistan and a peaceful co-existence but there is merely 4%. The rest of India is a fabrication and concoction and full of war mongers who want to take over Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and other neighbouring countries. I hated Indian congress party but I can tell they were much better than Modi and allies because at least Indian muslims were not tortured and slaughtered in their time. Modi came in power and is trying to take away the special status of Kashmir, closing down Masjid’s, killing the Christians, kicking out the Bengali’s and what not.

Mr. Gaurav, regarding Sir Hassan Nisar, I think you’re the one who needs to watch him a bit more. Its true that he brutally(and rightfully) criticizes Pakistan’s political and social structure and supports the idea of having harmonious economic and social relations between Pakistan and India, and I think every sensible person in Pakistan agrees with him, BUT, he is also a strong supporter of the Pakistan Army and former President of Pakistan Gen(rtd.) Pervez Musharraf, both of whom you and many other Indians despise. He is against the extremist ideas of Mr. Modi & his cronies and believes that they will only worsen relations between the two countries. He recently criticized, on his show “Mere Mutabiq”, the current economic impact on our already low defense budget and said that “India has just recently made a multi-billion dollar defense deal and if we need to go shopping in response to keep minimum deterrence we need to have a good amount of funds available”. I seriously doubt if you and your countrymen would agree with all of these points.
So I dont understand why some Indians try to pitch him against us and in their favor? If you REALLY listen to him and are a true fan of his analysis, you must agree with all the things he say. You cant just choose the things that goes in your favor and against Pakistan and vice versa.

Before talking such crap, kindly visit facebook and see what Indians are saying about Pakistan, Just having a growing economy doesn’t make India better, inspite of having a growing economy, their are millions of people in India who live below poverty line as reported by BBC and Indian Media.
They have more problems then Pakistan.
I am 100% in the favor of good relations with India, but just for the recap of history to understand the conflicts.
1. Everyone must read the British parliament bill based on which partition happened.
2. Everyone must read stand still agreement between Pakistan and Maharaja Hari Sing.
3. Everyone must read about Mr. Nehro commitment on kashmir issue.
4. Everyone must read about pakistani status during 1962 war between India and China
5. Everyone must read about 1965 war.
6. Everyone must read about 1971 India stand in war.
7. Everyone must read about 1983/84 Indian invasion in Siachen
8. Everyone must read about 1999 kargil war
Once everyone have all above info then he will understand the relationship between both countries.

I am an Indian college student. I am very sad to see the hatred still running through some people in both Pakistan and India. Something bad happened for sure. But we have to move on. India and Pakistan are sister countries and they need to be like that. Kashmir issue is something which need to solve with extreme care. Do you know a lot of people in India believes that POK/ Azad Kashmir has to taken back at any cost? In that situation, its very difficult to Govt to take any bold steps on that. But friendship is another matter. We really need to have friends in Pakistan. Have to visit Pakistan. We know Pakistan is a great country. Don’t you want to visit Delhi, Kolkatha, Chennai….? :)
There are many people who dream of a international boundary like in Europe, with Pakistan.

Good day to you, there are good and bad people on both sides of the border so need to bother about the keyboard warriors. All our matters should be resolved and both the countries should progress in good strategic directions. we cant neglect the fact of agencies involvments on the both the sides. if isi targets india then raw along with cia and mosad battle with pakistan :) these are all inherent tactics which a layman cant understand as 41 different agency networks are operating in pakistan. i have traded with india on commodities like salt and gypsum export and have couple of friends in ludhiana and amritsar. i once travelled from karachi to lahore by train with a hindu family from india on visit to pakistan, we had a good journey togeather discussing about the fact exploration of both the countries :)
Dear Sameer. India’s economy is larger than Pakistan due to the population difference. In fact, India’s GDP is even less than a single state of USA; California. There is no harm in trade and one should not underestimate its power. India has already given MFN status to Pakistan and is seeking it from us. It is not necessary to be friends with your customer or supplier but the trade must go on.
Dear Sameer, India’s economy is larger than Pakistan’s solely because of the population difference. Even with having a population of over a billion people, India’s is economy is smaller than only one state of USA; California. Do not underestimate the power of trade. Pakistan has already been provided the MFN status from India and the latter is seeking the same from the former. It is not necessary to be friends with your supplier or customer.
Hi Sameer. I really appreciate what you are trying to say here. Although I completely support your opinion, it takes way more than just thinking of people. The hatred that we as Pakistanis have cultivated towards Indians is running in our veins. But to be honest here, I believe that our media is our own culprit. We should first improve and better our nation then only can we worry about our enemies.
