I love Zaid Hamid!
There I said it! Pheww…That’s a load off!
It’s all about the way he speaks. He just mesmerizes me with his words. No! I am not in that kind of love with him it’s just that every sentence that he utters seems to include one or more of the following:
- “Maar dalo”
- “Goli se uradho”
- “Suli per charha do”
- “Qatal kardo”
It’s just amazing how, unlike other guests or anchors on Pakistani TV, he is clear about how to save Pakistan. Just kill all the “pests” and get on with it!
This however, is not a post about how much I enjoy listening to Zaid Hamid; rather it’s a critique of how practical his suggestions really are.
When Mr. Hamid came to the forefront a few years back, his pro-army and “everything is because of RAW & Mossad” stance was very enticing and made a lot of sense, since it is no secret how active RAW is in Balochistan.
However, after Musharraf’s Pakistan ka Khuda hi Hafiz act, Mr. Hamid began his “How to save Pakistan for Dummies” sessions. And the only way he could think of was to get rid of the whole crop of politicians; getting rid of them by killing them all to be specific. He regularly cites the revolution in Iran as an example of where the religious elite threw over the ruling elite in a bloody coup.
So is this possible in Pakistan today? Well, in my humble opinion it is NOT. There are several reasons for this:
- We don’t have a strong enough religious party or group. (Will the people raising their hands up for Tahir ul Qadri, kindly sit down!)
- We do not have any party that’s willing to change the system as it works in their favor.
- As for the army, although they might be willing to change a ruling party, they are not willing to change the system as they too benefit from it.
- Our “Mai Baap” America doesn’t want it to happen
- All our politicians and the “establishment” are controlled and financed by the West
I am sure the above are enough reasons to convince you that a revolution – as envisioned by Mr. Zaid Hamid – is a long shot.
In my opinion, there is no worldly cause or person who is or will in the near future be able to galvanize the Pakistani people into a revolution of any sorts. The only way I see things changing is if we find a person who can unify us on Islam. If we can find such a person we won’t need to look anywhere else.
So Mr. Hamid, as much as I love listening to you… I know that you know just as well as I know, your way is NOT the way to save Pakistan!

first of all, mr writer, Amrica is not our Mai baap, so don’t include all the Pakistanis in such sick mindedness of yours.
secondly Zaid Hamid is not saving Pakistan, He is saving Ummah through Pakistan and through “ISLAM’ , the Islam that Sayyadi sal lal lahu Elayhee wasallam taught us, its such a irony that writers like u are so ignorant about Islam that they do not feel any shame on accusing a Muhsin of urs too! Qital , Jihad, and Qisas are pillars that can give any socity the peace which we need today. inshaAllah Pakistan ‘s takmeel will be on the pattern of khilafat e Rashida!! the enemies can bite their fingers in rage, as Quran says..
MashaAllah
One has to be familiar with Islam, it,s spiritual contents, the role and power of divine wilayat embedded as an eternal part of the soul in order to understand completely what Syed Zaid Hamid tries to convey to us. For others with lesser degree of spirituality ( I wonder if the word conveys what I mean by it) or none at all, it is best either to take it or leave it. There is no compulsion in faith, said Allah JL!
We, as people have been subjected to slavery for centuries and now find it difficult to accept the reality of freedom, like the caged birds born in captivity for generations can not dare to fly away even if the door of the prison seems to be opened. That is what Iqbal called the psychology of slavery. Come out of the prison of Nafas brother and Allah may enlighten the beauty of vast valley for you that Syed Zaid Hamid sings about. Amin!
Well as far as concern to the religious and political parties of Pakistan your analysis will be appreciated but unfortunately your opinion about Mr Zaid Hamid is based on i who mmaturity; pardon me but a person who is taking all the risks only for the sake of Ummah’s unity, the one who is fighting with the biggest challenge of our time and giving us hope can never be an ordinary thinker; honestly speaking he has no match. Try to give unbias opinion and study the characteristics of a mard e momin; i hope you will end up with your search for a revolutionwary:)

Dear Mr. Sameer,
When I read your post I found some missing points. As far as the current political and economical scenario is explained in your post, I do agree 1O1 Percent. However, the flip side still convinces that either the “RED” or “GREEN” revolution has to come in Pakistan Government System. I put the color choice on our nation depending on their patience level. The other point is that similar “like-minded” people in our system who are absolutely not willing to face an anarchy “The Red Revolution” and that may bring severe damages in future, are converting the patriotic emotions from Red to Green. How? we can study that through our current political affairs. The hastiness in this process is indicating the count down of Red Revolution has already begun and we the nation of Pakistan has to understand which pill we want to take Red or Green? Both will bring the change but the aftermath may strongly differ with each other.
