So my Misbah haters, what do you say now? Everyone who knows me knows that I have always admired Misbah for his contribution to Pakistani Cricket.
It was him who steered the country out of the 2010 spot fixing disaster. It is him who has led the team on most occasions when the team was not playing on home soil.
And during all this turbulence he was performing. He was the one making runs when the rest of team went through one collapse after another.
People called him tuk-tuk and blamed him for all the losses. I for one never blamed him because I could see, and I still believe, that it was the incompetence of the players, lack of proper domestic cricket and internal politics that were to blame.
Now I have finally been proven right and Misbah has silenced all his critics. Misbah has now become the most successful test captain Pakistan has ever had. With 15 wins he has surpassed Imran Khan and Javed Miandad’s record of 14 wins each. Not just this, he also led the team to a test series win against Australia after 20 years and not just a series win but a series whitewash.
And it’s not like he didn’t contribute in these wins; his performance has been steady including the fastest century in test cricket EVER!
“It sounds great, because you could say the names – Imran Khan, Javed Miandad those are the greats of Pakistan. But if I am at the top, it’s something I could not really think of,” Misbah said. “It’s great to know that. I am happy about that.”
People who used to criticize Misbah are today full of praise. They have also finally realized his contribution to Pakistani cricket.
What is fascinating about his reign is that since 2009 Pakistan has not played on home soil. It is in-fact amazing that Misbah has never led the Pakistani team in a test on home soil and is still the most successful Pakistani test captain.
According to former captain Rashid Latif, “… He (Misbah) has led Pakistan in an admirable manner… He deserves the highest civil award of Pakistan for setting the team on a path of recovery and to greatness.”
Even if you look at Misbah’s ODI record, he has a healthy average of ~43 and a strike rate of ~73. Much better than a strike rate of above hundred and an average of 23. What use is that?! Oh! and that’s Shahid Afridi I am talking about by the way, if you didn’t get the hint.
Yes, he scores slowly but he scores, so what if he is old school? I still say that Misbah is the best bet for ODIs till the world cup.
Misbah has never responded to the harsh criticism he has faced off the field. “As for my critics I never get distracted, because they have a job and I have a job, whoever does it well will be remembered.” He says.
Misbah has rightfully earned his place in history and I pray and hope that he wins the world cup for us next year two.
I think they dn’t have self confidance once the pressure mounts on them they lost the balance see fall of one wicket in their team means all the team crumbles they do not know how to tackel the pressure ,even misbha is a
good player but inconsistance is the matter
I don’t agree with u. Because he is the only player who cost pakistan two world cups. One is 2007 T-20 Final and another one is 2011 Semi Final. If he would’ve played sensible cricket on these two matches then pakistan would’ve four world cups the heighest in T-20. Don’t comapare him with Afridi. Afridi is much better then him. Just see his performance as a captain in 2011 world cup where he took 20 wickets in just 5 matches and lead his team to semi.
Plz improve ur knowledge it was Shahid afridi who led Pakistan in spot fixing scandal misbah was not in 15 man squad in that tour against eng. Very next odi series against eng after this scandal was 2-2 before final odi but eng won the final match who led team in huge critism and after loosing their key player it was Shahid afridi.
Mohsin Bhai,
If shahid afridi want to lead his team to sport fixing scandal then he would’ve played that test match. He was knowing about it and before the start of that match only he decided not to play that match. I think you are fan of misbah but it is reality that he is the culprit of now winning two world cups for pakistan. Instead of misbah if afridi was there in 2007 world cup final then 100% pakistan had win that match. And another culprit of that match was younis khan. Because he gave the wicket of imran nazir in the form of run out and you know that if imran nazir was there for only 2-3 overs then the match was over and after imran nazir got out in the next over he played and he didn’t scored a single run in that and in very next over he gave his wicket. It was not wicket taking ball but he gave catch as if he was playing in net.
misbah is good captain… achieved a lot in test cricket but you have to admit he didn’t built a team.always individual brilliance played a role in PAK victory. the prove is worldcup is around corner and pak still dont know which team will be play. sorry to say in misbah captaincy pak team never flourished.. occasional glimpse of brilliance.. he is good captain but not great…
shahid khan afridi is a good man
aah i still hate Tuk tuk (Misbah) he hasn’t gotten a ODI century Yet, Pakistan need a aggressive Cap who is fearless like Shahid khan Afridi. Misbah is more of Test player than One Day.. But i still love misbah as pakistani, muslim, human and person but not as a ODI batsmen.
simply my words for him … a living legend . my all friends was against him and i use to tell them he is the only one man show in team and my friends use to laugh on me. but now its my turn ;-) . i use to tell me friends that any one against Misbah ul haq . Does not know cricket at all and the time have proven me right. Really a fine and confident player of this century .
