Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and children of all ages. The post you have been long awaiting is finally here; a post about cars!

There are cars of all shapes and sizes available in the Pakistani market today. You can still get a 70’s ki Datsun, or a Land Cruiser from Chaman, or a Mercedes from the sleek Merc showroom.

But the question arises, what is the best car for the Pakistani road? And that’s the question I am going to attempt to answer today.

Following is a list of the top 5 cars made for the Pakistani roads:

Suzuki Mehran

A timeless classic. This car has been around for a looooong loooong time and is still going strong. Its miniature size, fuel economy and low cost of maintenance make it perfect for us Pakistanis.

The new model has become a tad bit pricey but the market is flooded with used ones that are just as good. The Mehran can take on a ‘khadda’ like no other. It passes off the brunt of the jerk to you, but itself remains unmoved ;)

Suzuki Margalla

The sedan of the middle class. Discontinued a long time ago, you still find a few good models running around here and there.

Reasonable mileage and a sturdy exterior makes it a good choice for people looking for a cheap sedan that will last them a few years, even now.

Suzuki Pick up

A bomb of a car this is. Small, with an even smaller engine, this car can still somehow manage to carry tons of load and navigate the streets of Karachi like a stealth fighter.

Although scary to drive, this is the perfect car for a small business that needs transportation.

Daihatsu Coure

Another zippy, small and fuel efficient car, the Coure eclipses the Mehran in looks. Unfortunately, production for the car stopped back in 2012 because the engine that it uses is no longer manufactured.

But, just like the Mehran there are a zillion used Coure’s in the market for you to choose from.

This is the perfect car for a middle class, just budding family, that is not quite ready for a Honda or Toyota.

Toyota Corolla

The common man’s car around the world, but a luxury car in Pakistan!

Assembled in Pakistan, the Toyota is somehow made sturdier than its siblings around the world.

It is just as much at ease on the roads of Defense as it is in a Chaudry’s farm or a Wadaira’s zameen.

Drive it like a Roll’s or a monster truck, the car holds for years and years, in Pakistan, at least!
