The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has announced the result of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination 2016 on Tuesday which was topped by Army Public School (APS) Peshawar female student, Manaal Amir, who bagged 1032 marks in the Science Group.

Surprisingly, remaining two positions were also secured by the female students namely Urooj Fatima (1031 marks) and Hifza Saeed (1030 marks). Both these students were enrolled in Army Public School and College. The former was registered in Hyderabad Cantt while the latter studied in Multan Cantt.

A total of 63,771 regular students appeared in the final examination out of which 58,081 passed with flying colors. The passing percentage was whopping 91.61%.

The first position in the Humanities Group was also seized by a female student who scored 985 marks. Areej Sajjad was a student of Fauji Foundation College for Girls, Rawalpindi Cantt. It is pertinent to mention that the rest of the two positions were also secured by female students.

The chief guest on the occasion was the Minister of state for Federal Education and Profession Training, Muhammed Baleeg-ur-Rehman. He congratulated the position holders, their parents and concerned educational institutions. While addressing the audience, he stated that:

“FBISE is one of the best education boards in the country. Federal Government has also launched a project to improve all the regional education boards and in this regard an amount of 50 million rupees has been earmarked”

Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman, Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, also introduced the position holders to Prime Minister Youth Development programmes, including the laptop scheme, fee reimbursement and scholarship programmme. He also said that the student can take benefit from the schemes.

Manaal Amir, who secured 1st position, was given an award along with other top candidates later from the honorable chief guest, Mr. Muhammed Baleeg-ur-Rehman.
