Advocate Ishtiaq Ahmed Chaudhry has filed a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC), asking the court to prohibit Indian movies in Pakistani cinemas until Kashmir issue is completely resolved.

According to the sources, the appeal filed by the advocate maintains the stance of barbarism in occupied Kashmir. The Indian forces are continuing to oppress Kashmiris with their brutality while the cinemas in Pakistani are busy in promoting and screening Indian movies.

As per motion pictures ordinance 1979 and Pakistan’s import policy, the broadcasting of Indian movies is a violation. Ishtiaq Chaudhry also stated that Indian movies exhibit chaos and stimulates violence against Pakistan’s ideology. The petitioner asked the government to lift local film industry.

Moreover, the petition said that the government’s dual policy is contradictory. On one hand, they want the Kashmir issue to be resolved. But they keep on promoting India movies to help them raise money which they eventually use to traumatize Kashmiris.

Petition filed to impose complete ban

Ishtiaq Ahmed, while displaying solidarity with innocent Kashmiris, has pleaded to impose complete sanction on all entertainment material of India including their movies. The filer has also asked to keep the ban intact until Kashmir issue is resolved and Kashmiris gain independence.

The court has given censor board one week time to answer.

Chief Justice of LHC Syed Mansoor Ali Shah disposed a petition filed by the local film producers and distributors association earlier this year. The plea was against the illegal import and exhibition of Indian movies since it was hurting the local film industry.

Let us know what you think about the petition. Do you want Indian movies to be banned in Pakistan until Kashmir issue is resolved?
